Space Rocks

DESCRIPTION:

This is an arcade style game about breaking asteroids!
Avoid getting hit and pickup unique powerups to temporarily change the way you play.  

MODES:

Normal mode: Destroy all asteroids and survive 2 minutes. Endless mode: Survive ever-increasing waves of asteroids for as long as possible to beat your high score!

CONTROLS:

Keyboard:  W to accelerate.   SPACE to shoot.  A/D to turn. 

Mouse:  RB to accelerate.  LB to shoot.  Turn towards mouse

POWERUPS:

 Laser Beam:  Change your primary fire to a powerful laser beam, but be careful! It limits your turn speed and pushes you backwards!

 Double Bullets:  Shoot 2 side by side bullets to make it easier to take out many rocks at once!

 Rock Splash:  Shoot Rocks to cause them to explode, sending shrapnel into other rocks that can cause a chain reaction!

 Shield:  Become invulnerable to rocks!  Enjoy the temporary safety, or take advantage of it to smash into rocks to destroy them!

 Life Up (Endless):  Unique to the endless mode, grab it to add an extra life!

This game was originally a guided project during my first game development class in college in 2024.  For our final project we had to choose a project to expand on our own, and I added better wave spawns, powerups, and an endless mode.
